Christie lists the CP4415m-RGBH at $68,900 in the United States, and the spec sheet on it reads like nothing else that will be discussed on a home theater show floor: 15,000 lumens, a three-chip 4K DLP Cinema imaging block, self-contained liquid cooling, 132 pounds. CEDIA Expo opens at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver on 1 September with the exhibit floor running through the 4th, and Christie is in two of the sound rooms there, working with residential brands rather than with cinema exhibitors. That is the context in which a projector built for small auditoriums and post-production suites has started turning up in home cinema coverage.

The machine is a CineLife+ series cinema projector. It runs a 0.98-inch 4K SST three-chip DMD assembly at a native 4096 x 2160, which is the DCI container rather than the 3840 x 2160 that consumer content ships in, and it gives each primary color its own mirror device. There is no color wheel and no pixel shifting. The light source is what Christie calls Phazer, a hybrid of RGB laser and phosphor, rated past 50,000 hours and covering DCI-P3. Christie quotes 14.2 lumens per watt against a nominal draw of 1,060 watts, and says the projector will fill screens up to 52 feet wide. The datasheet carries a July 2026 revision date.

The 15,000 and the 6,000:1 come from different glass

Both headline numbers are real. They just do not arrive on the same night.

Christie’s own specification sheet footnotes the brightness figure as “with existing high brightness cinema lens,” then lists contrast twice: up to 6,000:1 full field on/off with the UHC cinema lens, and 2,500:1 nominal full field on/off with the HB lens. Fit the bright glass and the contrast figure falls by more than half. Fit the UHC suite and Christie publishes no brightness number for that pairing at all. Anyone reading a summary that stacks 15,000 lumens next to 6,000:1 is reading two separate configurations of the same chassis.

That matters more in a living room than it does in a cinema. A commercial exhibitor filling a 40-foot screen in a black box is buying light. A private theater with a 150-inch screen and treated walls is buying black level, and 2,500:1 full field on/off is not a competitive number in that room — the 4K home projectors we track commonly quote higher native contrast than that, at a fraction of the money. The lens choice is not a footnote here. It is the product decision, and it gets made before the crate is opened.

The lens is also not in the price. The dealer listing at DTA Digital Cinema carries the same $68,900 figure Christie quotes, marks it subject to tariffs in effect, and states plainly that lens, pedestal, external storage, installation and training are all excluded. Six lens options are offered across the HB and UHC families, from a fixed 1.05:1 up to a 1.90-3.00:1 zoom, all on a fully motorized lens mount.

What 1,060 watts asks of a house

The electrical requirement is the part that tends to end these conversations. The primary input wants 200-240 VAC at 16 amps, with a second 100-240 VAC input for UPS duty. That is not a standard American wall outlet, and running one into a finished basement theater is an electrician’s job with a permit attached.

Cooling is liquid, pressurized and self-contained, with optional heat extraction ducting. Acoustic output is rated at less than 43 dB(A) — quiet for a 15,000-lumen cinema projector, and loud for a room where people expect to hear dialogue at reference level from eight feet away. The chassis is 33.5 by 26.8 by 12 inches without a lens. The laser is Class 1, Risk Group 3. The optical path is sealed against dust and the filter needs cleaning or replacing once a year in a clean environment, which is a real advantage in a residential install where nobody is opening the machine between annual service visits.

None of this is a criticism. It is a description of what a DCI-grade cinema product is, and Christie has never pretended otherwise: the datasheet’s own audience line reads small screen auditoriums, event cinema, post-production, screening rooms. The residential framing has been applied from outside.

The Christie going to Denver is a smaller machine

Worth saying, because the projector Christie is actually demonstrating in Denver is not this one.

In Sound Room 7, the Paragons of Home Cinema: Episode II build assembled by Lumagen pairs a Christie 4K1000-KS with a Stewart Filmscreen VistaScope Evo that ranges from 188 inches diagonal at 2.39:1 down to 116 inches at 4:3, alongside a 9.4.6 Dolby Atmos rig from StormAudio, NextLevel Acoustics and SPEAKERPOWER. In Sound Room 10, Christie appears again with ASCENDO, madVR Labs, AcustiMOD, Moovia, StormAudio and a Seymour-Screen Excellence Enlightor-Neo retractable acoustically transparent screen; that room’s exhibitors have not named the model.

The 4K1000-KS is a Korus series single-chip machine on a 0.8-inch HEP DMD, rated at 10,050 ISO lumens or 8,500 ANSI, outputting 3840 x 2400 in 16:10. It weighs 38 pounds and quotes 1,500:1 native contrast with a dynamic figure reaching 25,000:1. So the Christie that dealers will actually judge on a 188-inch acoustically transparent screen is lighter, cheaper, dimmer, single-chip and lower on native contrast than the CP4415m — and it is the one the demo teams picked. Sound rooms get built by people who have four days, a rented power drop and no second chance at the picture. What they choose is a data point.

MicroLED has booked rooms at the same show

The pressure on the top of the projection market in Denver is not coming from other projectors. DreamWall is showing an Elite Series Platinum P0.7 chip-on-board MicroLED wall: 0.7mm pixel pitch, roughly 121 inches diagonal in its 4K configuration, with the wider family spanning 108 to 216 inches in 16:9 and 21:9 and offering 0.9mm and 1.25mm pitches underneath. It supports 10-bit HDR, carries warranties up to five years on selected products, and per the published specification summary many of its indoor cabinet configurations will run from a single 20-amp circuit. There is no MSRP; it is quoted project by project through integrators.

Set that against the 200-240 volt feed the Christie wants and the argument makes itself inside a dealer’s head. A video wall does not need a dark room, a lens decision, a lamp house in a closet, or an owner willing to accept that peak brightness and black level sit on separate order forms. What it does need is a budget with no ceiling, which is the same buyer both products are chasing. Our preview of the Denver and Berlin shows noted that projection has become one category among many at CEDIA. The wall in the next room is a fair part of the reason.

For the small number of people commissioning a purpose-built cinema room this year, the honest read on the CP4415m is that it is superb engineering aimed at somebody else. It will out-resolve and out-last anything in the consumer laser tier, it will do it with genuine DCI color, and it will still be running after a $5,000 home projector has been replaced twice. It will also want a 240-volt circuit, a lens bought separately, an installer with cinema credentials, and a decision about whether the room is being optimized for light or for black — because at this price, on this chassis, it is still one or the other. Christie’s own demo teams in Denver reached for the easier machine, and they were not wrong to.
