When choosing a HDMI cable, I am pretty sure that you must run into some of them labeled 4K or 8K. Are they any different with normal HDMI cables?

Why manufacturers label cables as 4K or 8K, the biggest reason is to boost sale.In another word, 4K HDMI cable or 8K HDMI cable are even not technical terms, they are just some marketing jargon.

What we should note is not 4K or 8K, it is the speed rating.

Speed will dictate the maximum bandwidth allowed by the cable. There are mainly four kinds of speed rate: Standard, High Speed,Premium, Ultra-High Speed. Another important factor is frame rate, the two make sense together in choosing a HDMI cable.

Does HDMI 2.0 Support 2k144hz?

A premium cable supports 4K video 60 frames rate but it can’t support 8K. On the other hand, a high-speed cable can support a 4K video signal, but only at 30 fps. Therefore, 8K HDMI cable or 4K HDMI cable, what really make sense is the speed rating and frame rate.
