What is the XGIMI Dual Light 2.0 Technology?

At CES 2024, XGIMI introduced the world’s first IMAX Enhanced certified projector, the XGIMI Horizon Max 4K Projector. Adding to its innovative lineup, XGIMI also unveiled the Chinese versions of the XGIMI RS10 Ultra and XGIMI RS10 Mini projectors. What sets these products apart is the incorporation of the revolutionary Dual Light 2.0 technology, a cutting-edge eye-protection laser technology.

In the pursuit of enhanced brightness, superior color reproduction, and the mitigation of common issues associated with three-color laser systems, XGIMI previously introduced the Dual Light 1.0 light source technology, also known as Super Mixing Light. This technology combines LED and laser light sources, employing an RGBB four-channel LED + R laser five-channel optical path design. In simpler terms, it introduces a pure red laser alongside a full-color LED light source. By elevating the red color gamut, this technology achieves high brightness and exceptional color performance. Simultaneously, the full-color LED compensates for the color deficiencies of laser sources, resulting in an effect close to natural light.

The eye-protection three-color laser represents the next generation of XGIMI’s Dual Light 2.0 light source technology, combining the principles underlying three-color laser technology with the super mixing light approach. This innovation integrates three-color laser reusing excitation technology and a four-color bidirectional filtering fusion technology. These features substantially eliminate common issues associated with regular three-color lasers, such as speckle and color fringing, resulting in a comfortable and natural image.

The underlying principle involves extracting a portion of the narrow light source from the three-color laser, independently exciting another wide-spectrum light source, and then combining and overlaying the wide-spectrum light source with the native three narrow-spectrum lasers. This process enhances brightness while achieving the goal of mixed light, simulating a comfortable and healthy natural spectrum.

The eye-protection three-color laser is the latest achievement in XGIMI’s “wide spectrum + narrow spectrum” light source technology. It utilizes a proprietary laser fusion optical architecture, offering improvements in brightness, contrast, color gamut, and color accuracy compared to the previously introduced super mixing light technology. The addition of a wide-spectrum light source and laser-excited fluorescence effectively addresses issues associated with conventional three-color lasers, such as speckle and color edge artifacts. XGIMI continues to lead the way in projector technology, providing users with an unparalleled visual experience.
