Ranking projector brands is only useful if the ranking admits what the market actually looks like. RUNTO counted 19.206 million projectors shipped worldwide in 2025, down 4.8%, on $8.44 billion of revenue. Of those units, 70.9% were single-panel LCD and only 20.4% were DLP. Which means the overwhelming majority of projectors sold on Earth come from companies that do not design light engines, do not run an optical lab, and in many cases do not exist as anything more than a trademark attached to a reference design.
So this is not a list of the ten largest sellers. It is a list of the ten companies that build something specific, ordered by how many buyers they can actually serve well in 2026.
Epson has been the structural anchor of this industry since it shipped the first LCD projector in 1989, and it is the only major brand that never went to DLP. Everything it makes is 3LCD: three panels, one per primary colour, combined optically. That architecture has one consequence worth understanding — colour brightness equals white brightness by construction. A single-chip DLP with a colour wheel is dimmer on colour than on white, sometimes by half, which is why two projectors with the same lumen rating can look nothing alike on a saturated red.
The Epson QB1000 is the demonstration piece: 3,300 lumens quoted for both colour and white, laser phosphor rated at 20,000 hours, 2.1x motorised zoom with lens shift of ±96% vertical and ±47% horizontal, at $7,999. The zoom and shift are the real argument. Everything else on this page expects to sit on a table and fix the geometry in software. Epson expects to be installed.
RUNTO put XGIMI first in global home projector shipments on 2024 data with 6.2% share, ahead of Xiaomi and JMGO, and the company has held that position by covering every bracket from $400 to $2,500 without an obvious weak spot. The Horizon S Max at $1,899 runs 3,100 ISO lumens off a tri-colour laser and LED hybrid engine, and the MoGo 4 at $499 gets 450 ISO lumens out of a 0.23-inch chip with a gimbal base.
What XGIMI genuinely does better than anyone is setup automation — obstacle avoidance, wall-fit, autofocus that works on the first try rather than the fourth. It is also the brand most likely to ship Google TV with everything licensed properly, which sounds like a small thing until you meet a projector that cannot run Netflix.
Hisense is the reason ultra short throw stopped being a curiosity. It builds its own laser engines, sells the screen alongside the projector, and has pushed the category down from five figures to the low thousands over the past several years. The C2 Ultra is the current statement: 3,000 ANSI lumens, TriChroma RGB laser, 25,000 hours, and unusually a real 0.9:1 to 1.5:1 optical zoom on a machine that also works as a UST, at $2,999.
The caveat with Hisense is regional pricing, which varies more than any other brand here. We recently found the same PX4-Pro launching in Britain at last year’s price while the American figure rose $500. Check your own market before assuming a review’s price applies to you.
Dangbei’s whole strategy is publishing a measured brightness number at a price where competitors publish nothing, and then beating them on it. In China it quotes CVIA, the national measured standard, which is stricter than either ANSI or ISO 21118. The D7X sits at 1,100 CVIA lumens off a pure RGB triple-laser engine for under 2,300 yuan, and the company has just dated an even brighter edition for 17 August.
The international line follows the same logic in ISO lumens. The MP1 Max delivers 3,100 ISO lumens at $1,999 with a 30,000-hour engine. The DBOX02 is the one that makes the case most clearly: 2,450 ISO lumens from an ALPD laser through a 0.47-inch 4K chip, Google TV with licensed Netflix, HDMI 2.1 with eARC, dual 12W drivers carrying Dolby and DTS:X, and Full HD 3D playback that most rivals dropped years ago — at $1,199. Setup runs through InstanPro, which handles focus, keystone and screen-fit automatically. Nothing else at that price publishes a certified figure that high.

BenQ is the colour-calibration brand. It has shipped factory-calibrated Rec.709 and DCI-P3 modes at prices where nobody else bothers, and it publishes the delta-E figures, which invites the argument rather than avoiding it. The HT2060 at $999 is the clearest example: 2,300 ANSI lumens, 4LED rather than laser, 20,000 hours, and a picture that measures better out of the box than machines costing twice as much.
BenQ is also the brand that took gaming latency seriously first, with 4K/120Hz input on the TK-series while competitors were still quoting response times in marketing copy. Where it lags is the smart platform, which has never been its strength and probably never will be.
JMGO built the gimbal projector as a category, and its MALC triple-laser engine is its own design rather than a licensed one. The N1S Ultra 4K gives you 2,800 ISO lumens of RGB laser at $1,499 in a body that aims itself. The N3 Ultimate at $2,399 goes further than most people expect a Chinese home projector to go: 5,800 ISO lumens, 1.93x optical zoom, and lens shift of ±130% vertical and ±53% horizontal — installation hardware in a consumer chassis.
Native contrast is the weak spot. The N1S measures 1,600:1 before dynamic processing, which is ordinary for single-chip DLP and a long way from what the two brands below deliver.
JVC’s D-ILA projectors are LCoS: reflective panels with a genuine 4K pixel count, no shifting, no wheel. Native contrast on the NZ series runs into six figures before any dynamic trickery, which is a different order of magnitude from every DLP on this page and the single reason serious home-cinema builders still specify JVC. The price of entry starts around $5,000 and climbs steeply, the machines are large, and they want a properly light-controlled room to justify themselves. In one, nothing else compares.
Sony’s SXRD is the other LCoS line, and the trade it makes against JVC is consistent: less native contrast, better motion handling and processing, and motorised lens memory on the upper models that makes scope screens practical. Sony also brings its television image-processing lineage, which shows up most on poor sources. Same caveat as JVC on price and room.
Valerion arrived through crowdfunding rather than retail and is the newest name here, but the VisionMaster Pro 2 is a serious machine: 3,000 ISO lumens of RGB laser, 30,000 hours, 1.67x optical zoom, 15,000:1 dynamic contrast, listing at $2,999 and street-priced lower. It is the product that dragged triple-laser colour out of the flagship bracket.
Buy on the hardware, not the company history. A brand this new has not yet demonstrated what its service network looks like in year five.
Nebula spent years as the portable-battery brand of projection and then built the X1, which is not portable in any meaningful sense: 3,500 ANSI lumens, RGB triple laser, a 14-element all-glass lens, 30,000 hours, and detachable wireless speakers, at $2,999. Anker’s advantage is the one nobody lists on a spec sheet — it answers support email and honours warranties, which in a category full of one-season brands is worth real money.
Optoma and ViewSonic both belong in any honest discussion and neither makes this list on home performance alone; their strength is the education and commercial channel, where reliability and cost of ownership matter more than colour volume. AWOL Vision is worth knowing if you want ultra short throw specifically — the LTV-3500 runs 3,500 ANSI lumens of triple laser at a 0.25:1 throw ratio — but it is a one-category specialist rather than a brand you build a room around.
Then there is the 70.9%. The single-panel LCD tier that fills Amazon’s best-seller list is not made up of brands in the sense this article has been using. They are trademarks on shared reference designs, and the tell is the brightness figure: no ANSI, no ISO, no CVIA, just a large number. We put two of them side by side this week and the certified one measured 230 lumens against a claimed 600 for a three-dollar price difference. Some of these are perfectly reasonable $70 purchases. None of them is a brand you should be loyal to.
The useful test for 2026 is narrow and it works: find the brightness figure and see whether a measurement standard is attached to it. Everything above passes. Most of the market does not.
