Ai Pin Mini Laser Projector – The First Wearable Device That Projects onto Your Palm

Humane, a company founded by two former design and engineering executives from Apple, is set to unveil its first wearable device, the Ai Pin. Priced at $699 with an additional monthly subscription fee of $24, this innovative product introduces a new dimension to wearables by featuring a miniature monochrome projector that can be affixed to clothing and projects interactive visuals onto the user’s palm.

Contrary to being a smartphone accessory, the Ai Pin is positioned as a smartphone alternative. It eschews a traditional screen display, eliminating the need for pairing with a smartphone, and can independently project images. It goes beyond basic functionalities, enabling users to make calls, send messages, and more.

In terms of design, the Ai Pin incorporates a magnetic mechanism, allowing users to attach it securely to clothing. The required battery pack is integrated into the clip. Additionally, the device is equipped with a laser projector, camera, microphone, speakers, and various sensors.

Performance-wise, the Ai Pin is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and employs cameras, depth sensors, and motion sensors to track and record the surrounding environment. It also supports Bluetooth headphone connectivity.

For interaction, the Ai Pin features the Cosmos system, facilitating the projection of information onto the user’s hand through the mini laser projector. When the camera, microphone, or input sensors are in use, the device emits a light source, enabling users to engage in interactive experiences on their palm. It supports voice interaction, integrating Open AI and Microsoft AI models to provide features like voice translation. Additionally, the camera can identify objects and recognize food calories.
